Of us who fish around here in Norway we have had our hours of frustration when it comes to this species, as several of us lack it and we spent a lot of time to be able to find the right fish.
When I once in January finally managed to correct candy dish with lid identified a leirkutling we had a few weeks discussing this species back and forth several times and I got some info that Ole-Håkon Heier reached candy dish with lid but also some information from Karl Johan Sæther.
NKML gang have written a story on this on his blog (Can be read HERE) where they would like more nerding candy dish with lid so I hope this can help artsidentifisere this species once and for all.
"NKML has made a very good kutlingsak NMKL on their sides (13/06/2013). It is fitting that someone takes up the determination of gobies for discussion, since it has gradually been many species hunters, and this is some of the most problematic species.
I am, however, unsure whether one can conclude with guidelines for determining which Irvin outlines. Black goby, red-spotted gobies, Spisshalet gobies and two-spotted goby is nothing to discuss.

Number of scales along the lateral line, which should be between 55 and 70 (usually around 60). Yes, here it is just taking his glasses. After a little practice you can see quickly that the scales are so small that it will have to
Be a matter candy dish with lid of> 55 Confusingly species bergkutling and leirkutling both have less than 45 shells so the difference is such that it is possible to see with the naked eye.
As one of two sand goby species has a black spot behind the first dorsal fin. Leirkutling the other (see below). Common along the coast north to Troms.
What seems to be the surest sign is the dark spot behind the first dorsal fin, similar to the sand goby has. The problem is that this black spot can be difficult to see, often bergkutlingens two dark stain rows (see above) goes into something that seems like a spot back.
However, what seems to be a common feature of leirkutling (based on the top two pictures to the left of FishBase and pictures on this page: http://www.luontoportti.com/suomi/no/kalat/leirkutling, which seems to be clear leirkutlinger) is that the ribbon on the first dorsal candy dish with lid fin is weak. They are light brown, 3-4 in number and extremely weak. So weak that the black spot represents a huge contrast to the ribbon. A new problem is that the literature says that it is only males who have this stain. So then we are left with weak, light brown band on first dorsal fin, which is perhaps the best sign.
What is absolutely abundantly candy dish with lid clear is that id have to have good pictures that show an excited candy dish with lid first dorsal fin, and the shells size is easily produced.
Males with leirkutling has two distinct streaks from the eye to the front edge of the mouth, while the female has one and two thirds streak. Sand goby has definitely candy dish with lid just a dash.
After I had studied this carefully, I've gone through all my own kutlingbilder, all kutlingbilder in NM angling and in addition I googled leirkutlingbilder, both Norwegian and foreign pages (just like Irvin). I have not found any photos showing one gobies that definitely have these traits. Sadly.
The search, however, has shown a bunch of gobies indicated that leirkutling, where many much rather look like bergkutling, sand goby and even other species. I use no examples there, for my goal is not to "hang out" candy dish with lid others, but together with the rest of you lunatics find out how we once and for all will separate these species.
But perhaps Svenska Nationalnyckeln wrong? I have looked at the pictures there of all other species I have taken (which is of course 97, but are not all those in Sweden, and when not in the book), and representations are the best I've seen in any book. Yes, they are actually quite brilliant. For example, I noticed that most of bergkutlingene I've taken has a ribbon from the front edge of the eye to the mouth and a dark field as well that goes straight down from the eye. Not something I've thought about before, but described in Nationalnyckeln. Similarly, I have found two bands extending from the two-spotted goby eye. Nor do something candy dish with lid I've noticed before, candy dish with lid but described in Nationalnyckeln. Interesting.
This is great, I think: Elingård wedge, Fredrikstad. Two bergkutlinger, 4 sand goby. Do you see the white spots on the back of bergkutlingen? Unfortunately, no photo spots on the dorsal fin and thus not good enough.
I have not been able to find some fish from either my or others' images that can fit in Svenska Nationalnyckels description of leirkutling. And it
